This is me with some stupid Japanese retail produce (which I love) in Tokyo. You can read about my trip round the world in 'Travelling Tales', but no more holiday snaps, I promise.

I originally became a writer after working for the National Health Service in the UK for six years, in administration, which I absolutely hated. Of course I'm sure there are a lot of NHS administrators out there who love their jobs... only kidding! Before finally writing a novel, I also tried my hand at cartooning, which I loved but, er, wasn't very good at, and stand up comedy, which I did not love, and also, er, wasn't very good at. So, I'm a real advertisement for ploughing ahead in the face of all available evidence as to whether you're any good at things or not.

Umm, I'm originally from a small town called Prestwick on the west coast of Scotland, my mother teaches in the primary school I went to and my father teaches in the secondary school I went to. And I have two fantastic brothers, one who works in a restaurant in Glasgow, and one who flogs cars in New Zealand, which for those of you who don't know, is very, very far away from wherever you happen to be right now.

Okay, that's me... (if you are gagging for more details, there are various articles I've written / that have been written about me in the Reviews and Articles section).
